Kandy, Sri Lanka, 27 November 2022
Having held its consultations for the North-Western Province in Kurunegala, Factum convened the next round of discussions for SAFEWebLK’s draft Code of Practice for Online Safety in the Kandy District in Sri Lanka’s Central Province.
A key highlight from the consultation in Kandy was the relevance of marginalized groups to the drafting process of the Code. Participants argued that self-regulation of social media went hand-in-hand with greater inclusivity. The consultation concluded on the consensus that the Code would benefit from the views of marginalized communities.
