SAFEWebLK held its latest round of provincial consultations in Colombo at the Galle Face Hotel. Convened by Factum, the consultations mobilized representatives from fields including media, human rights, state sector, and civil society.
During the deliberations, participants highlighted the importance of engaging with tech companies. The consultations ended on a positive note, with the consensus that discussions for the finalized draft of the Code of Conduct for Online Safety need to be promote values such as diversity and inclusivity.
SAFEWebLK, inaugurated in mid-March this year at a multi-stakeholder event in Colombo, is a public interest initiative facilitated by Factum, an independent think tank based in Sri Lanka which focuses on international relations.
Collaboration with global tech companies has been and is being facilitated through their regional industry alliance, the Asia Internet Coalition (AIC).
